I sometimes wonder if one of the outcomes of this period of our nation’s history will be the emergence of additional political parties: at least one, but perhaps even more, once we get started and see how much things improve. It’s clear to me that neither of the two political parties currently in existence provides a “home” for me, and they may not for you either if you give it some thought.

That big lie is that Donald Trump won the election. He did not. In the blizzard of verbosity in that attack letter, there is little truth. The Committee Hearings are providing evidence of what took place on January 6th, and what led up to the violence. The Hearings are steeped in law. Persons who break that law by lying under oath will and should be persecuted. We are a nation and a people of laws and civility. No amount of false charges made with no factual;background can undermine that. I might add that contrary to the suggestion in that letter, almost all of the witnesses giving testimony are REPUBLICANS. ...most high in the Trump administration. I. stand by everything I wrote, and repeated, in my column. There is only one truth and readers need to think through which of the writers is telling that truth. Our democracy depends on it.

One appointment turns into two, and then a referral. You answer all the questions and take the tests they order for you. A couple of weeks later, the phone rings: “You need to come in right away.”
Read moreThe drought across Texas this summer hits the beautiful but fragile Medina River hard. No water is flowing and replenishing the river. Bone-dry between the Mayan Ranch and First Street bridges, water in the Bandera City Park is not gently flowing river water. It is now a stagnant and dangerous cesspool. According to the Bandera County River Authority and Ground Water District (“BCRAGD”), the Medina River E.Coli level at the park was measured on July 12th to be 499 MPN (Most Probable Number). The City of Bandera has a standard maximum of 389 MPN.
Read moreI am unhappily quite certain that many people are not taking in some of the most riveting testimony and information ever revealed in our world of politics by missing or ignoring the January 6 Committee hearings. When I say this, I am referring to “people” that believe that Donald Trump lost the 2020 election due to election fraud. It is hard to imagine that support for what is termed the “Big Lie” can persist considering what has been revealed by the hearings. There is a lot to choose from in these hearings regarding what has been the most striking.
Read moreI’m proud to announce that an extremely important event occurred on 14 July 2022 at 6 PM – YOUR Bandera County Republican Party was reborn! As required by the Republican Party of Texas, the first meeting of your new Bandera County Republican Party County Executive Committee (CEC) held its Organizational Meeting. This event was graced by current and former Representatives from the Republican Party of Texas and the Texas State Executive Committee, all of which commended our county on what a great event it was and how important you are to Bandera County and the State of Texas. After the rebirth of YOUR County Republican Party, the new County Chair and members of the County Executive Committee immediately went to work. Some of the important work your new CEC attended to was to appoint Precinct Chairs for two vacant Precincts, making up a full CEC for the first time in many years.
Read moreOn behalf of the Texas Land & Liberty Coalition (TXLLC), I write in support of the Rio Lago Solar Project being proposed in Bandera County. TXLLC is an alliance of landowners, farmers, ranchers, community leaders, economic development supporters and clean energy advocates working together to bring about responsible renewable energy development in Texas. We are strong proponents of private property rights and believe that Texas landowners are entitled to develop their own property as they best see fit.
Read moreFor several weeks in a row, members of the local Democratic caucus have written to the Opinion page and have had their pieces re-run regarding the January 6, 2020 riot at the capitol hearings, presumably, because of Herr Goebbels' dictum, the lies must be repeated often for it to become perceived as “truth” to the public.
