RE: CARTOON
Cartoonists, just like writers, have days where the creative juices just aren’t flowing. Brandin Powers must have had such a day last week when he reached into his bag of ideas and pulled out an attack on Conrad Streigl, local Republican official.
It’s never been clearly explained what the problem was during the recent in-fighting among Bandera Republicans, and probably never will. Dragging that confusing episode up again, much less comparing it to the Trump indictment, was neither funny nor relevant. Especially when there are so many other ways to use Trump’s situation for humor or political commentary.
I enjoy the cartoons most when they poke fun at universal experiences we all share, like Dennis Allyn did about our crazy April weather. If the cartoonists want to attempt political commentary it should at least be something obvious and relevant that we can all relate to, whether we agree or disagree.
