ROOKIE COP MISTAKE BUT NOT A ROOKIE

On August 22, 2022, my wife and dog and I went for a pleasant Sunday drive thru the hill country and I was pulled over by Constable R. Chalmers and given a ticket for going 70 in a 55 mph zone. Being as I was indeed going exactly 70 mph , I pled no contest after he mistakenly said that it had been 55 for several miles. About a week or so later I drove the 470 again and noticed that the speed limit was “70 mph” end to end.

When I went back to JP Holts office to complain about the “mistake” I was told they would call me after discussing this with Constable Chalmers and JP Holt.

A few days later, JP Holt via her receptionist said since I had already pled no contest that there was nothing they could do about my complaint. All I wanted was an apology.

The officer insisted he was correct, but anybody that drives the 470 heading east will see it is 70 mph from where it starts at the 462, all the way to Bandera Road.

Travelers should question every ticket before pleading out is my suggestion but in this case it wouldn’t have mattered anyhow as the cops are always given benefit of doubt… rightfully in 99% of cases I think.
