Bandera Library Happenings
Our weekly Watercolor class has been taking advantage of all the beautiful weather we have been having.
Join the group on Monday, April 17, at 10 a.m. for another outdoor watercolor class. The group will meet here at the library and then pick a spot to work. All levels are welcome. The watercolor class is made up of local people who enjoy working with watercolors.
Each person comes with their own project, and they share ideas and tips. The library does have some limited supplies if you are just starting out.
Did you know working with art like watercolor painting is great for dealing with stress? According to the Sage Neuroscience Center, art is a very effective way to manage stress. Citing a study done by the journal “Art Therapy”, 75 percent of people had significantly lower levels of cortisol (that’s the stress hormone) after only 45 minutes of creating art. That is fantastic news!
Speaking of very stressful things, Tuesday, April 18, is Tax Day. The library still has tax forms in both English and Spanish available. Don’t delay!
Join us for a new monthly program on Thursday, April 20. The third Thursday of every month is Anime Night! Come by from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
We will be streaming four episodes of anime and then the group will be rating each episode for the streaming service CrunchyRoll. We will also have supplies and instructions available for anyone who may want to try their hand and drawing manga.
This will be an important program for anyone who is caring for young children. Join us on Friday, April 28th at 4 p.m. in the Downstairs Meeting Room for NetSmartz Cyber Safety. This program will help parents, educators and communities learn internet safety for kids.
Whether we like it or not, the internet is a part of our lives, and children need the skills and knowhow to navigate it safely. Learn how to teach your child how to use the internet safely at this program which is a part of National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Space is limited, so please call the library to register.
There is always so much going on at the library, be sure to follow us online or you can call the library and sign up for our monthly newsletter with all the details of the month’s programming.
Bandera Kronkosky Public Library is open Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is still available for checkouts and business services. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7.
