People driving by Mansfield Park last weekend might think Bandera is the motorcycle capital of the world based on the amount of bikes present for the Thunder in the Hill Country Texas Hill Country Bike Week event.

The event was hosted by Biker Rallies of Texas, who also hosts Rumble on the River in the. Both events draw a huge crowd to the Cowboy Capital of the World.

“We are celebrating the 20th Anniversary in Bandera and it is great,” said BIll Taber, Biker Rallies of Texas CEO Bill Taber.

Taber said his company and the Bandera community have worked hard for two decades to grow it into a three-day event that draws bike riders like a giant magnet.

“Two years ago, the Bandera Commissioners okayed an economic impact on the event (fall and spring), and it turned out to be $2.7 million. Now I would think the economic impact would be five to six million dollars,” Taber said, adding he loves working with local folks who help out.

Taber took this Bulletin reporter with him on in a golf cart through the crowded Mansfield Park, where many registrants had also set up camp. It was easy to see a lot of smiling, happy faces.

Biker Rallies of Texas will host Rumble on the River from September 30 to October 2 later this year.

Festivities will include a poker run, bike show, games, contests, food and more.

Registration for the 21-and-up-only event is priced at $55 before the event and comes with a free event t-shirt.
