Vineyard of God hosts inaugural Guardian Run
Over 70 students competed in the first annual Guardian Run sponsored by the Vineyard of God Christian School on Saturday, May 6.
Runners varied in age from four through 12 years old in this warrior obstacle course. Students competed in two categories, Little Guardians and Junior Guardians.
The course consisted of 10 obstacles placed around the property in sequence.
The runners climbed through tunnels, hopped from obstacle to obstacle, crawled through rope tunnels, walked on balance beams and swung from suspended rings and ropes.
Each station was monitored by a volunteer who helped the runners.
Eager to get started, some competitors ran around trying out the obstacles before the start of the race. Laughing kids jumped from tire to tire and finished by swinging on a rope to a final tire. They also took great delight in the ball pit at the beginning of the race. A big hit was the rope tunnel suspended between two trees.
The morning started off cool under a light gray sky that obscured the sun.
As runners started arriving the atmosphere began to intensify as the students became eager to begin the race.
Little Guardians were expected to complete the course five times and Junior Guardians were set to finish 10 times around the course.
The money raised by the run will be used to fund a new studio building for the school. The school’s goal is to raise $50,000 this year.
Preregistered run participants received a medal, a swag bag, a t-shirt and an after run party.
