Bandera Library Happenings

Tomorrow is Veterans’ Day, and the Library will be closed in observation of the holiday. On behalf of the library staff and volunteers, we would like to thank all of our veterans for their esteemed service to our country. We will be open for our normal hours Friday and Saturday.

Starting on Monday November 15th at 10 a.m., our weekly watercolor class with resume meeting. Learn the basics of this versatile art medium with Dr. Daniel Schmidt. The class will meet in the Downstairs Meeting Room. Mondays are also the day our Official Pokemon League meets at 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. in the Downstairs Meeting Room. Join the group as they play Pokemon the Card Game and discuss their favorite anime and manga.

Storytime for preschoolers is on Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Join Miss Pattie for songs, dance, arts and crafts and, of course, lots of reading! If you are interested in helping out at the Library, the Storytime group is needing an extra pair of hands. Contact the Library to get more information. A love of kids and crafting is all that is required.

New titles this week include a ghost story by Louise Erdrich called “The Sentence.” Anyone who has ever worked in customer service will know this is the worst possible situation.

A small bookshop in Minneapolis is haunted by the ghost of their most annoying customer. Flora, the annoying customer, dies on All Soul’s Day and rather than move on to the beyond, she simply refuses to leave the shop. The shop’s newest employee, Tookie, is fresh out of a stint in jail which she survived only by reading books obsessively. Now Tookie must solve the mystery of the bookshop’s obnoxious ghost all the while getting used to her new life in Minneapolis.

The Bandera Library is open Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is available for checkouts and business services. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7. Masks are recommended while in the library building. Check out our website www.banderacountylibrary.org for all up-to-date information.

Happy tales, y’all.
