Called to Be Priests and Kings
Last week I wrote about this scriptural principle, “We do not look at the things that are seen, but at the things that are not seen. For the things that are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal” (ll Corinthians 4:18). Prospective rulers (kings) have got to understand this.
For example: as bad as the inflation is throughout the nation, and the devaluation of the dollar which costs us more for gasoline, food and things we buy. Then the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has recently given China’s currency the designation of international reserve currency replacing the dollar which has had that designation since World War 2. Therefore, nations all over the world will flood the market with their dollars which they don’t need anymore for international purchases, further decreasing the value of our currency and raising inflation even more. These are all things we see.
Another example: we have been reading about some voters in California crying to officials that their voting machine tells them they have already voted so they can’t vote again. This can only happen if criminal hackers have penetrated our election process or else the government has been illegally tampering with the voting in their place. The ramification for future elections is unthinkable and must somehow be corrected. This is something we can see.
We sympathize with the prophet Habakkuk crying to God, “Why do you show me iniquity and cause me to see trouble?.... The law is powerless and justice never goes forth.” God answered Habakkuk, “Be utterly astounded! For I will work a work in your days, which you would not believe, though it were told you. For indeed I am raising up the Chaldeans, a bitter and hasty nation to possess dwelling places that are not theirs.” God is speaking of the Babylonians who will invade and conquer Israel and carry away most of their leading citizens.
God continues, “Write the vision, make it plain, that he may run who reads it; for the vision is yet for an appointed time. But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it, because it will surely come. It will not tarry.”
“The just shall live by faith” (Habakkuk 1:1-6, 2:2-4). God is answering Habakkuk with the unseen. We can become fearful and anxious at the above seen examples of inflation and voting plus many others such as the crisis on our Southern borders with illegal migrations. Just as God’s judgement upon Israel was real, His judgement upon the U.S. is real. Once again, “the just (and kings) shall live by faith.”
