Cork and Fork raises new record, honors hometown heroes
The Arthur Nagel Community Clinic announced record-breaking success at its annual Cork & Fork fundraising event, held Saturday at the Farm Country Club Pavilion. The sold-out event drew 480 attendees and raised $150,000, marking a 30% increase in contributed revenue compared to 2023.
“This was our most successful fundraising special event ever,” said Chuck Lutke, executive director of the clinic. “We are grateful beyond words for the generosity of our community, sponsors, and guests who continue to support the essential health care services we provide to Bandera’s uninsured families.”
Cork & Fork featured a patriotic tribute to veterans and presented the Hometown Hero Award to two honorees: Arkey Blue and James McGroarty, recognized for their contributions to Bandera’s economy and cowboy culture.
The evening included a gourmet dinner prepared by the Backyard Bistro, a musical salute by Boerne High School Band students, and honky-tonk performances by headliner Weldon Henson. Jastra Enterprises, the event’s presenting sponsor, donated a restored 1928 Model A Ford Tudor Hardtop for the raffle. The winning ticket was purchased by Richard and Linda Simmons.
Proceeds from the event will support the clinic’s $2.5 million annual operating budget, which funds medical care and health education for uninsured Bandera County residents.
The 2025 Cork & Fork is scheduled for Nov. 15, with tickets available starting Aug. 1. For more information or to donate, visit nagelclinic.org or call (830) 796-3448.
