Early voting approaches for $79,491,416 school bond
Early voting opens Monday, April 24, and runs through May 2 for a proposed Bandera ISD school bond priced at $79,491,416.
According to district officials, projects included in the bond include district-wide security and safety updates, district-wide maintenance, adding HVAC to both Hill Country and Alkek Elementary Schools, building a multipurpose facility and creating a career and Technical Education Center.
The proposed bond would increase the BISD tax rate $0.1307; it is currently priced at $0.9784 per $100.
According to the district, the bond would translate to $340 a year or $28 more per month for an average $300,000 homeowner in Bandera.
If passed, the bond would not impact those over the age of 65 who have filed for a homestead exemption.
Early voting will be held from 7:30 to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Tuesday, April 25, will see special extended hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturday, April 29, will see special extended hours of 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Early voting will be held at the Ray F. Mauer Building, 403 12th Street, Bandera, 78003; and Lakehills Area Library, 7200 FM 1283, Lakehills, 78063.
The deadline to register to vote was April 6.
A Q&A session with BISD Superintendent Gary Bitzkie will be held Sunday, April 23, beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the Lakehills Community Center, 11225 Park Road 37, 78063.
