Early voting turnout significantly lower than last election

As of Monday, 321 registered Bandera County voters have participated in early voting, according to information provided by Texas Secretary of State Ruth R. Hughs office.

Hughs' office reports 311 people voted in person and 10 voted by mail in Bandera County cumulatively through Monday. That’s 1.87 percent of the county’s population.
 

By comparison, 64.47 percent of registered voters participated in early voting for the November 3, 2020, General Election, with 10,046 people voting in person, and 977 by mail, according to the Secretary of State.

Statewide, Hughs' office reports only two percent of registered voters have participated in early voting as of Monday, with 243,361 people voting in person and 97,869 by mail.

By comparison, 57.22 percent of percent of registered voters participated in early voting for the November 3, 2020, election, with 8,764,385 participating in person and 937,878 doing so by mail, according to the Texas Secretary of State’s office. Statewide, there are eight proposed Texas Constitutional amendments on the ballot.

Locally, there are three spots open on the Bandera CIty Council and one slot open on the Bandera Independent School District Board of Trustees. Early voting is open in Bandera County through Friday, October 29. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Election Day is Tuesday, November 2, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
