Former Deputy Chief Patrol Agent John Mata spoke at the January meeting of the Bandera County Republican Women (BCRW) earlier this month.Mata is an active member of the Republican Party as well as a poll worker. Now retired, he worked 30 years for the US Border Patrol and several other government task forces while stationed in Del Rio.Mata began his presentation by detailing the training each agent must complete before becoming a fully vested member.New agents must complete a 26-week training school and then are assigned to a post where they continue to take classes and are tested monthly.
