Man charged with harassing school official
A man arrested on Election Day after spitting on a Bandera High School official has bonded out of jail, according to authorities.
Lance Murley, 40, of Pipe Creek, was arrested by the Bandera County Sheriff’s Office on Nov. 8 for unlawful restraint of a public servant and harassment, according to the county’s arrest report.
The two charges carried a total of $20,000 in bonds, according to Bandera County Chief Deputy Matt King. Murley bonded out on Nov. 9.
King said Murley went into the school’s front office and forced his way into the office of a school official, where he blocked the door and spit and threatened the official.
“He was mad his daughter had been suspended the day before,” said King.
A deputy who happened to be at the high school for election security heard the commotion and made his way to the office.
“He made quite the scene, enough for the deputy to hear him,” said King.
Murley was arrested shortly after.
“He was booked after we took him to the hospital. He thought he was having a heart attack, but the hospital said he wasn’t,” said King.
Murley has been booked in Bandera County over two dozen times for a variety of offenses, including driving while intoxicated, drug-related charges, burglary and driving with an invalid license.
King said there was no disruption to voting.
