For the third year in a row, The Museum of Western Art (MoWA) secured a national award from True West Magazine, who placed the museum in their roster of the Top 10 Western Art Museums.

True West Magazine’s editors, in their announcement, lauded MoWA’s exceptional prowess in curating and presenting the multifaceted heritage of the West.

In this year’s rankings, MoWA claimed the third position, trailing behind the National Museum of Wildlife Art located in Jackson, WY, and the Eiteljorg Museum situated in Indianapolis.

Texas, represented by MoWA and the Panhandle- Plains Historical Museum located in Canyon, secured two positions in the list, with the latter clinching the seventh spot.

Delighted by this resounding recognition, Darrell Beauchamp, the Executive Director of MoWA, remarked, “Being accorded a place among the nation’s premier Western art museums is an esteemed honor. This distinction is especially significant as it aligns with our 40th anniversary year. It resonates deeply as we persist in our mission to safeguard the Western legacy through the medium of art and education. Our doors are open to visitors from across the globe who come to Kerrville to absorb the historical realities and vast natural beauty of the West. We extend an invitation to all to visit us frequently, partake in memberships or volunteering, and bask in the splendor of the remarkable artworks on display, crafted by both distinguished past and contemporary talents in the realm of Western art.”

Situated at 1550 Junction Highway in Kerrville, the Museum of Western Art invites enthusiasts to explore its treasures.

Operating from Tuesday to Saturday, the museum extends its welcome from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The institution levies an admission fee, with a notable exception for active and reserve military personnel, veterans, and first responders, who are granted complimentary access.
