Pipe Creek celebrates colorful Saturday
The Pipe Creek Dancehall Market Days event last Saturday, June 18, drew a lot of vendors and visitors to the historical location at 9878 HWY 16.
Most of the Market Days events have their own theme, and this day was no different.
The colorful 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. event had a Hawaiian theme, and many folks were wearing Leis and Hawaiian shirts.
Bruce Martin, Pipe Creek General Store and Dancehall owner, said having a the event is part of a larger plan for the threeacre property.
One of those changes was moving the market to the goat barn area, and vendors liked it, Martin said.
Martin last year committed to do market days events and has kept them going.
That is good for vendors like Mike O’Dell who runs Captain Grandpa’s Workshop in Bandera.
Mike O’Dell and his wife Shelly, granddaughter, Jaycee Gonzales, age 9, and granddaughter Rylee Gonzales, age 7, saw their tent-covered business to a lively crowd.
The Market had a wide things to see from jewelry, food, home decoration and much more.
As music played, people enjoyed a display of an antique 1928 Ford Model truck owned by Rick Angle.
There was also a timely chance for dads and their family members to sit under a sign that read, “Happy Father’s Day” and pose for fun keepsake photos.
Martin said he bought the property years ago for several reasons: to keep the corner from becoming a gas station, to help restore the historic buildings and to help the community in several ways.
That help has manifested several ways, including weddings, dances, and the market days.
