The level of food insecure households has risen significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic in Bandera County. New data suggest that 27 percent (1 in 4 households) currently suffer from some form of food insecurity. Prior to COVID-19, levels of hunger and inadequate food were improving in Texas and Bandera County. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the national average for food insecurity levels peaked at roughly 15 percent in 2011.
