Edith “Edie” Davis Loveland, a cherished matriarch, devoted friend, and pillar of strength, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2024, at the age of 84 in Kerrville, Texas. Her loss is deeply felt by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Edie was born on September 30,1939, in Washington D.C. to Joe Walter Davis and Ethel Louis Wiemers-Davis. She attended college in her hometown of Georgetown, TX. During her time in college, she met the person she’d spend her life with, Alan Winslow Loveland. Their marriage took place on July 23, 1960, in Georgetown, TX.

Edie led a remarkable life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering compassion for her family, friends, and community. Her acts of kindness and generosity left an unforgettable impression on the lives of everyone she encountered, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of many.

Edie’s passion for life was evident in her dedication to her family. As a loving mother and grandmother, she created a warm and nurturing home in Bandera, Texas where cherished memories were made. Her unconditional love knew no bounds.

She was an active member of Bandera Methodist Church where she spent most Sundays either singing in the choir or playing hand bells. She is also known for her love of cross stitching and crocheting. When most people she knew had one of her pieces of art, she then started volunteering her time crocheting baby blankets for Peterson Hospital in Kerrville, TX.

Edie is proceeded in death by her husband, Alan Winslow Loveland; her parents; and siblings, Eugene Stewart Davis, Mary Ellen Arnold, and Elizabeth “Beth” Ann Hime.

She is survived by her brother, George “Ed” Edward Davis; 3 children, Allie Hatch, Scott Loveland, and Angie Vaughn; her 10 grandchildren, Kyle Phillips, Kira Phillips, Hannah Loveland, Austin Vaughn, Nick Loveland, Zach Vaughn, Sarah Loveland, Derek Hatch, Dylan Hatch, and Travis Vaughn. All will forever cherish her memory and continue to honor her legacy of love, resilience, and kindness.

Although Edith may no longer be with us in person, her spirit and love will continue to shine brightly in our hearts. May she rest in peace, knowing that her legacy of love and compassion lives on through those whose lives she touched so deeply.

A celebration of Edie’s life will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024, @ 11:00am, at Bandera United Methodist Church, 1103 Cedar St., Bandera, TX 78003.

Special thanks to her daughter-in-law, Laurie Loveland, New Haven Memory Care of Kerrville, and the Peterson Hospice team for the love and attention they gave to make sure she was comfortable and cared for.
