Chief Master Sergeant Jerry Lee Dooley, 77, of Bandera, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2019, in San Antonio.

He was born in Marion, Indiana, to Earl and Edith (Phillips) Dooley on Feb. 1, 1942.

He married Di Kahn on Dec. 19, 2009 in the Airman’s Chapel at Lack-land AFB in San Antonio, Texas.

He attended Cold-water (Michigan) High School and attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War in the U.S. Air Force and served for 23 years.

He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Outstanding Unit Award with Valor, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Short Tour Duty Ribbon, Overseas Long Tour Duty Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon, NCO Professional Military Education Graduation Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, among others.

He is survived by his wife Di Dooley and his daughter Sara Lee (Dooley) Burkett, Tucson, Arizona, and two stepchildren, Debbie Dawn Kahn (husband Shawn Grunberger) of San Francisco, California, and Spencer Kahn (wife Jerri Bland Kahn) of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

At Chief Dooley’s request, there will be no service.

Memorials may be given to the American Legion, where he was a lifetime member.
