JUDITH M. KLEIN

Nov. 5, 1946 — Sept. 28, 2023 Judith M. Klein of Vandalia, Illinois and formerly of Lakehills, Texas, passed away on Sept. 28, 2023 at the age of 76. “Judi”, as she was known to all friends and family, was born on Nov. 5, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from Amundsen High School in Chicago, where she was an excellent student and participated in many clubs and organizations. Her maternal grandmother’s illness brought her and other family members to Texas, where she lived most of her life, until three years ago when she returned to Illinois.

Judi was a devout member of the Lakehills United Methodist Church. Even though she was no longer living in Lakehills, she would participate in church services remotely, via Internet streaming. While living in Lakehills, Judi served on the church Building Committee, helped with its annual Fish Fry, participated in numerous Bible studies, and was always available to lend a hand to anyone in need. Many of her lifelong friendships were forged there.

Before her retirement, Judi was employed at River Oak Inn, Brick’s River Café, and the American Indian Jewelry Store. These businesses allowed her to meet and make many friends in Bandera County over the course of her life. Most knew her for her love of pug dogs and her creative nature and ability to make anything.

Judi is survived by her daughter, Julie Crisp (Keith) of Michigan, grandchildren; Ashley Berger (Cary) of Bandera, Zachary Crisp (Vanessa) of Arizona and Hailey Crisp of Michigan. She is also survived by her sisters Pat Reilly of Vandalia, Illinois and Beth Brady (David) and niece, Mariah of San Antonio. Other loved nieces and nephews include Linda, Lisa, Lorna and Bobby. A source of enormous pride and joy for Judi were her great-grandchildren, Avery and Charlie Berger of Bandera, Texas. Other close family members include Nicole and Harlee Roberts and Kevin Smith-Walker, both of Lakehills.

A memorial service to celebrate Judi’s life will take place at 10 a.m., November 18th, at the Lakehills United Methodist Church, 150 Ave. J, Lakehills, Texas. A small reception will follow in the church hall.
