LOUIS CLAUDE REININGER

Louis Claude Reininger was born in San Antonio, Texas on December 17, 1946, to Alton and Evelyn Reininger. Louis was the fourth generation to proudly call their ranch in Bandera, Tx home. He always enjoyed the life of a sportsman. While still in high school he was active in 4-H and FFA and won Champion Charolais Heifer Junior Exhibitor in the 1965 Houston Livestock Show. He graduated from Bandera High School in 1965 and went on to attend Southwest Texas Junior College in Uvalde and then graduated with a B.S. degree in Agriculture from Southwest Texas State University in 1970.

Louis began working for the Soil Conservation Service while he was still in college and continued to do so until he began a new career with The American Sportsman’s Club where he worked for 16 years as Texas Operations Director. During these years he was able to blend his love of hunting and the great outdoors with educating others and sharing that love and wealth of knowledge with them. Louis eventually made his way back to work for USDA Rural Development and specialized in Rural Water Systems. He was the Supervisor in Groesbeck, TX where he retired after 23 years of federal service in 2008.

In 1977 Louis and his then wife Suanne had their daughter Leslie Ann Reininger. In her, he instilled his love of hunting, and they shared many great times in the deer blind. In 2009 he became a grandfather to Mackenzie… and boy did that little girl have him wrapped around her little finger!

Louis married the love of his life, Patty, on May 27, 1989. They enjoyed several years of moving through Texas, compliments of the USDA until retirement in 2008 brought them back to the Ranch that Louis loved so much.

Louis was very active in the Masonic Lodge he was Past Master at the Groesbeck Masonic Lodge #354 and an active member of the Bandera Chapter #1123. As a little boy he dreamed of cowboys and indians and hunting expeditions in faraway places and he was able to fulfill a few of those dreams when he traveled to Africa, Alaska, Canada, and South Dakota among other fantastic locations. He lived his life to the fullest and never let the little things slow him down.

Louis was taken from our midst on January 20, 2022, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He is survived by his wife, daughter, son-in-law Jason Cech, stepsons Tim Gressler, Jerry Dexter, and wife Trish, granddaughter Mackenzie Cech, step-grandsons Brandon and Nathan Dexter. He was loved by many and his love for all his family and friends was deep, vast and powerful. He is irreplaceable and we will miss him forever.

The family will be receiving friends at 11:00 AM with a Funeral Service following at 12:30 PM at Grimes Bandera Funeral Chapel on Saturday, January 29, 2022. Officiating the service will be Father Frank Kurzaj. Honorary pallbearers will be Lynn Post, Scott the Post, Chance Post, Pat Wooton, Kenneth Welch, Paul Peace, Rocky Stevens
