MSgt. Gary A. DuPriest
MSgt. Gary A. DuPriest, U.S. Air Force retired, passed away on Friday, Dec. 13, 2019, in a San Antonio hospital. He was 77.
Gary was born Sept. 10, 1942 in Fort Monroe, Virginia to William DuPriest and Vera Burrier DuPriest.
He was raised in Long Island, New York and graduated from East Meadow High School.
He served his country honorably in the Air Force, retiring after 21 years of service. He received many awards, including the Air Force Commendation Medal.
Gary also received a master’s degree from Southwest Texas University.
He was a man of many interests. He was very involved in the TMRA and was its past president. He was also a Gypsy retired lifer. He enjoyed motorcycle riding and opportunities to travel abroad.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Billy Mack, Jr., Tootie and Gilbert; sister Patricia Vitela; daughter Wendy Gay Pope; and his former wife Barbara.
He is survived by his wife Teresa. Their relationship started in 1995.
Also surviving are daughters Donna J. Kraft and husband Mike and Coleen R. DuPriest; grandchildren Michael Kraft II, Sarah Richardson, Zachary Allen Kraft, Mariska Buron, B.J. Pope, Caroline Pope and Nicole Schwarz; great-grandchild Berlin Richardson and other extended family members, neighbors and friends.
A Celebration of Life was held on Friday, Dec. 20, at Grimes Funeral Chapels of Bandera at 11 a.m. with military honors. Rev. John Munson officiated.
