Last Thursday, March 17, the US House of Representatives voted, 424-8, to suspend normal trade relations with Russia and Belarus, permitting the administration to raise tariffs against the two countries.

The vast majority of Republicans supported the measure, designed to pressure Russia (and its sole ally, Belarus) to end the devastating assault on Ukraine and its people.

And the eight votes against the measure? All came from staunch Trump supporters, including Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who claims that NATO is backing “Nazis” in Ukraine. Putin is featuring Greene’s remarks on Russian state television to try to undermine the global opposition to the war and to convince the Russian people that the war is justified.

Oh, and another one of those eight votes came from our own Chip Roy, who apparently will even go easy on Putin to stay on the “good” side of Donald Trump.

Please reconsider the wisdom of voting for those who blindly follow Trump, no matter what.
