Bobcats fall to Leakey
The Medina Bobcats stayed in it until the end, but the Leakey Eagles pulled away late to take the game 4-2.
After a Leakey run in the first inning, the score would hold steady at 1-0 through five innings of play, until the Bobcats scored 2 of their own, and the Eagles followed suit adding 3 more runs to their total in the 6th.
In the bottom of the 7th, the Bobcats threatened, with 2 runners in scoring position, but were unable to get them across the plate.
Despite the loss, Bobcat pitcher, Seth Ashley had 11 strikeouts, 1 walk and 1 hit by pitch through 5 innings of impressive mound work. Cason Johnson led the Bobcat offense with 2 hits in 4 at-bats 1 single, 1 triple, and 1 run scored.
Also contributing to the Bobcat offense was Britton Wickham who went 1 for 2 with 1 run scored.
The loss brings the Bobcats to 5-2 overall. They faced Menard yesterday, but results weren’t available by the Bulletin’s deadline. They face Leakey again at home on the 18th.
