Runners shine at district, head to regionals
On Thursday, October 14th, the Bandera High School Cross Country teams competed in their very own District Cross Country meet that was held at Bandera City Park. After three delays because of the wet weather, the Lady Bulldogs finally got underway and started the day off.
Senior, Raelynn Butler, led the Lady Bullodgs and placed third overall while also earning All-District honors.
Hannah Edwards placed 11th, Trinity Butler placed 18th, Gracie Bankston placed 20th, and Danielle Gonzales rounded out the top five placing 23rd.
Other Varsity finishers were Carlye Niccum who placed 33rd, and Emily Presa was 35th.
The Varsity girls placed 2nd overall as a team behind Fredericksburg and qualified for Regional Cross Country Meet.
The Junior Varsity Girls were led by Sophomore Makayla Gonzales, Junior Mallorie Powell and Freshman, Kierstin Brown who all finished first, second and third.
Jazlyn Dickerson finished with a close fifth place, and Laney Bowman was tenth.
Other Junior Varsity finishers were Gabby Barrera 14th, Ashlyn Brown 17th, Sharon Silva 18th, Madelyn Garza 23rd, Bietzel Gonzales 24th, Maddie Lewis 28th, Isabella Chapa 29th, Riley Smith 38th, Calie Tripp 40th, Lauren Meier 54th, Lydia Devigny 55th, Sidney Jaeger 60th, Jocelyn Klein 61st, Brenda Mendoza 64th,
The Junior Varsity Girls won first place as a team with 21 points and almost had a perfect score.
In the Senior division, Ashley Grodman, Emily Garcia, Mia Ramirez, Katie Dibrell and Amberly Patterson finished first through fifth respectively,
The 2021 Region IV Cross Country Meet was held in Corpus Christi on Monday, October 25th.
