Ellen Jane Allert passed away Saturday evening on Aug. 24, 2019, at the age of 96. She resided in Bandera County for 68 years. Jane was born in Taft, Texas on Sept. 24, 1922 to Alfred and Dora Nelson and grew up on her family’s dairy farm. She graduated from Taft High School, then continued her education at Incarnate Word. She received her BA degree in education from The University of Texas - Austin. She taught school for two years in Sinton, Texas, then married her sweetheart Bob Allert, who grew up near Taft.
