Jeanne Elizabeth Clark was born to B. M. and Billie Clark on December 17, 1936, in the home of her grandparents, L C. and Com Jarvis, in Canton, Texas. Jeanne grew up in Canton and graduated from Canton High School in 1955. She was a graduate of Tyler Commercial College and attended Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas.
