Coley named head Medina football coach

Legendary coach Mark Coley will return to Medina Independent School District (MISD) in early August as Head Football Coach.

“I look forward to being back at Medina and being a head coach. I really like six-man football and the chance to coach it again,” Cole said, adding he coached at MISD a few years back.

MISD Athletic Director Cully Doyle said he was “honored and blessed” to have Coley join the district’s athletic department.

“He is a great Christian man, great person and has had lots of success in his career. It will be fun to work with him,” Doyle said.

In his career up to this time. Coach Coley has twice taken a team to the state championship, named Coach of the Year in 2012, spent 24 years as a head coach and overall has 42 years of coaching experience.

Additionally, Coach Coley has been married 40 years to wife Vicki, and the couple has four children and seven grandchildren.

Last year, the Medina High School varsity football team finished with an overall record of 3-6. They were 2-2 in district.

As fall sports like football, volleyball and cross country approach, all MISD athletes are being asked to turn in their physical before August 2.

Drug testing will be taking place on July 20 at Medina High School. It is required for all athletes before participating in fall sports.
