Museum of Western Art hosting Roundup

The Museum of Western Art in Kerrville will hold its annual fundraiser and gala from September 23 – 25 featuring events for all ages and showcasing the works of 57 top-rated western artists and 150 pieces of original art.

The event kicks off with a cocktail party on Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. Attendees will have an oppor tunity to meet many of the artists and have a first-buy opportunity to purchase artwork before the public. Western Chic Attire is encouraged for the event, which costs $75 per person or $125 per couple.

Friday will feature free outdoor activities for all ages from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Activities include a trick roping demonstration, Native American History talk, the Saga of the Chuckwag on, Western Story Telling, museum tours and western artists demonstrations.

The Almost Patsy Cline band will perform at the museum’s outdoor pavilion from 5-8 p.m Friday evening. The event is $30 per person and $50 per couple and features complimentary beer and wine. Food trucks will be on site.

Saturday, September 25th is the museum’s major gala. Interact with the artists, enjoy elegant foods, open bar libations and a fixed price box draw featuring 150 original works of art including oils, watercolors, and bronze sculptures. Tickets are $125 individual; $225 couple.

Of the select group of 57 participating artists are many who have participated previously, including watercolor painters John and Edith Maskey of Comfort, award-winning bonze sculp tor Jason Scull of Kerrville, and wildlife artist Brandon Bailey. Artists come from across the southwest as well as Montana, California, Pennsylvania and Missouri.

New to Roundup this year are Don Oelze from Montana, who specializes in Native American art and has two pieces in the exhibition, including the dramatic Native American scene “A Red Ribbon”, and Gladys Roldan-de-Moras a world-renowned painter specializing in Spanish culture whose captivating La Competencia is a festive Oil on Linen scene.
