LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Unequal Time
On Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021, I read another unsourced opinion column from a conservative writer who labeled me “stupid and evil” for my September column about abortion rights. My column had links to medical research questioning when life begins, since it is not a settled question.
The Oct. 27 column, “Murder, Voting Rights and Guns: A Liberal’s Road To Success,” has no links to research supporting its claims. It’s just the writer’s opinion.
The First Amendment of the U.S Constitution guarantees the right to free speech. But it’s a shame when it’s abused by circulating falsehoods that undermine our democracy.
As for The Bulletin, it tries to offer equal space to columnists from both sides of the political spectrum, but it gives more space to right-wing opinions.
Every week, there’s a cartoon and a column smearing Democrats. So every week, the paper allows Republicans a double barrel shot at us - a column and a cartoon - while we follow the Bulletin’s standards for opinion columns – 500 words. Period.
