“NO COMPETITION, NO PROGRESS”
Trailblazing gymnastics coach, Bela Karolyi’s mantra, “No competition, no progress.” applies equally to local government. This was a key motivator in my decision to run for Bandera County Judge: special thanks to those who asked me to run. It was an honor to compete and already have an impact on the Commissioners Court agenda and Judge Evans’ goals. The commitment to renovation of the Old Jail and First Courthouse ($600,000 allocated to start), as well as developing a trash removal start-up program were included in February. Commitments were also made by Judge Evans during the campaign opposing solar farms and ensuring the Lakehills Annex will not close with the construction of the new Courthouse Annex in Bandera.
Thank you to everyone who supported and assisted in the campaign: financial contributions, hosting events, posting signs, making calls, expressing support in advertising, and most important, voting for progress. I will continue to work hard for the community on the issues supporters identified as key concerns, e.g., law enforcement, Emergency Service Districts, and unbridled land development to name a few. Meeting the caring citizens of Bandera County one-on-one was a distinct opportunity and made me even more proud of our community. The time you spent educating me will not go to waste. I look forward to working with our elected officials on a variety of projects. My commitment to Bandera County has not changed.
A final note on voting. In this primary election, 30% of the registered voters determined the elected leadership for everyone. Local government elections really do “hit home”. November 8th is your next opportunity to make difference. Please register to vote and follow through. As an Army Colonel and industry executive, I’ve seen the awesome power of America. Our military. Our technology. The goodness of our people. But still the most powerful thing about our Republic, one that is the pattern for freedom everywhere, is the right to vote. The power to determine our path. It’s been hard fought, paid for with lives in every generation. As Lincoln said, “the ballot is stronger than the bullet”. Thank you.
