Bandera High School seniors Brandon Chafin and Byrl Cromwell have been accepted by the U.S. Navy to become part of its nuclear program, the Bandera Independent School District has reported.
Only students who have top scores on the Navy’s Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery examination and who meet all the academic and physical requirements for the program are accepted into the nuclear program, the school district said.
The students are considered so important to the nation’s defense that they are offered a $40,000 signing bonus for participating in the program.
