Gearl D “Bo” Bohannon
Gearl D “Bo” Bohannon, age 89, residing in San Antonio at time of death, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023 at 7:58 pm, at the Main Methodist Hospital in San Antonio. Cause of death was heart failure.
Bo was born in Floyd, NM, April 23, 1933, to his parents Joseph & Edith Bohannon. He spent his youth working on a farm, raising crops & excelling in 4H competition with pigs. He eventually married Betty Lou Lary on May 2, 1951, and subsequently had four children. During this time, he moved his family to Amarillo TX where he worked as a diesel mechanic and later as a driver of big rigs, hauling swinging beef out to California, and fresh produce back to Texas. After his children were grown, he moved to Rogers TX, bought a small farm, and drove for various trucking companies local to Temple. After retiring, he moved to Pipe Creek TX, and worked part time as a driver at M&P Construction.
Bo is survived by his daughter, Gwen Lingenfelter & husband Tom Lingenfelter of Pipe Creek, son Terry Bohannon, Grandchild Russell Bohannon & his wife Grethel and their three children Emilie, Jake, & Luke of Dallas TX, Grandchild Cody Bohannon & his wife Morgan & their child Rae Ray of Marble Falls TX, Grandchild Cory Bohannon, Grandchild Tiffany Bohannon of Costa Mesa CA, & Grandchild Erin Bohannon of Washington DC.
Bo was predeceased by his wife Betty, January 26, 2014, and his oldest son Larry Bohannon, November 30, 2020.
Bo is being cared for by Puente & Son Funeral Home in San Antonio TX. His Memorial Service will be in Lakehills TX on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 4pm. He will be laid to rest at Bandera Cemetery, 450 Hwy 173 N, Bandera TX.
Bo’s favorite quote: If you cannot do it today, there is always tomorrow, and if tomorrow never comes, you did not need to do it anyway. Bo loved family more than anything, and will certainly always be sitting at the head of the table, enjoying life & margaritas with all those he loved.
