County’s confirmed COVID count passes 3,000

After hovering just below the 3,000-count for months, Bandera County’s confirmed number of COVID-19 cases increased to 3,011 as of Jan. 25.
That number comes from the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), who said Bandera had 2,907 confirmed cases on Oct. 12, 2022. DSHS says there have been 1,245 probable cases in Bandera County. Oct. 12’s number was 1,193.
The county’s COVID death count reported by DSHS has remained at 80 since October.
Since the start of the pandemic, Bandera County has consistently had the lowest vaccination rate compared to all of its neighboring counties.
DSHS says 51.98 percent of the population aged six and up have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and 45.47 of that same age group are listed as fully vaccinated by DSHS.
DSHS also reported 72.68 of county residents 65 and up have received one dose and 64.73 have been fully vaccinated.
According to DSHS, 76.71 percent of Texas’ entire population has been fully vaccinated.
Vaccinate Bandera continues to offer information about obtaining a COVID-19 vaccine and will be administering them free of charge at New Day Church on Saturday, Feb. 11 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
That event will also feature free clothing, breakfast and pantry items, household goods, bilingual insurance marketplace assistance, flu vaccines and more – all free of charge.
The church is located at 9729 Hwy 16 S in Pipe Creek.
