Nagel announces inaugural 5K

The Arthur Nagel Community Clinic will celebrate spring with its first annual 5K Bandera Bunny Run/Walk this April.

Proceeds for the event will go toward providing specialized funding for clinic patients which clinic representatives say include disciplines such as oncology, neurology, endocrinology, cardiology and other fields of concentration outside the realm of primary care.

“We estimate that around 20 percent of our patients require specialized treatment each year, and that number is increasing,” said Susan Broa, Clinical Director and Bunny Run event manager. “We are fortunate to get these services at a discounted rate but the costs to us are significant. The Bunny Run/ Walk is an awesome way to energize your fitness plan and contribute to helping others who cannot afford specialized care.”

The event is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 15, at the Village of Hope Campus, which houses both the Nagel Clinic and Helping Hand.

The address is 1116 12th Street beginning at 8:00 am. Registration for all runners and walkers is open at AthleteGuild.com at $35 per person for ages 10 and up. The entry fee increases to $45 on March 15.

Participants may register as an individual or as a team. The course runs through the city of Bandera and near the Medina River.

The 5K Bandera Bunny Run/ Walk officially begins at 9:30 am.

All registered participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt and goodie bag with a timed chip bib included. Medals will be awarded to the top three males and females in the following age groups: 10-17, 18-29, 30-39, 4049, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 and up.

Medals will be awarded once all participants have completed the course.

Door Prizes will be announced following the medals presentation.

Runner packets may be picked up beginning April 14 at the Arthur Nagel Community Clinic from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, or on the day of the event.
