“Sorry, times are tough,” says Dollar General thief
Authorities are searching for a white male who robbed a Dollar General last Friday evening just before closing at 9:59 p.m.
Bandera County Chief Deputy Matt King said the man, wearing a red hoodie and black sweatpants, pulled a mask over his mouth shortly after entering the Dollar General location at the intersection of Highway 16 and Polly Peak Drive.
“He handed the employees a bag, demanded all the money and threatened them with a pistol,” said King. “Then he said something to the effect of, ‘Sorry, times are tough.”
King said the man left in a gray or silver SUV and headed south on Highway 16 toward Pipe Creek.
Because there were no cameras at the store or surrounding businesses, authorities don’t have a license plate, but they do have footage of the man inside the store.
“He did us a favor by not pulling up his mask right away,” said King.
According to King, the amount stolen was small because it was almost closing time and money was already being counted.
Dollar General did not respond to the Bulletin’s request for comment.
