Chip Roy tours chunk of district
Congressman Chip Roy began a whirlwind trip around District 21 beginning on Wednesday, Aug. 30.
He stopped in Kerrville, Leakey and Bandera to give constituents a report on his efforts in Washington to promote the conservative Republican agenda.
Specifically, he spoke about three pieces of legislation, beginning with a discussion on the Limit, Save, Grow bill, which he said was a responsible debt ceiling increase.
“Let’s embrace a modest increase in the debt ceiling for significant changes that would obviate the need for future debt,” said Roy during his visit to Leakey.
Roy continued, “We got HR2 passed, the most conservative strongest border security bill passed ever in a federal law.”
Next, Congressman Roy addressed the Defense Authorization Act, which was passed in July.
“We got amendments to it in July which focused getting our military back on mission and to end all the social engineering wrapped in uniform,” remarked Roy. Roy said, ““We got an amendment to end transgender surgeries, we got an amendment to end abortion tourism, and we got an amendment to end diversity, equity, inclusion all the race-based offices at the Pentagon. We got an amendment to end climate based executive orders.”
Roy said all of these were “big deals” whose impact and importance were hard to put into words.
In September, the funding for the government ends, and Roy believes it is the most important leverage point congress has to force change to push back against the Biden administration.
“We have the obligation to use the power of the purse to control it,” he said.
