A call for local party members to get involved was a through line of the Bandera County Republican Party meeting last Thursday. However, the message was limited to those granted entry.
For the first time in its history, the local party checked IDs before allowing attendees to enter the Aug. 10 meeting, requiring all of them to write down their name, phone number and email address.
In the process, longtime Republican voter Perry Lane was barred entry.
