About 120 people jammed into the Old Tarpley Schoolhouse on Sunday, Aug. 18, to make final preparations for a public meeting on a Christian youth camp’s proposed wastewater permit near Tarpley that critics consider an environmental nightmare and a pathway for more pollution in the future.
“We’re all here for the same reason – to stop the pollution of our creeks,” said Margo Denke, the founder of the Friends of Hondo Canyon, which has organized the opposition to the wastewater treatment facility sought by a company called RR 417, LLC on Farm Road 470 east of Farm Road 462.
