With the memory of overwhelming public opposition to the grant fresh in their minds, Bandera City Council members voted quickly and unanimously last week to withdraw the $37,500 in economic aid the city’s Economic Development Corp. had offered to the Tractor Supply Co. in April.
Councilman Tom McEachin, who also sits on the EDC board, characterized the economic incentive funds offered to Tractor Supply, which were to be paid out in $12,500 increments yearly over three years, as essentially his idea when the allocation came to council for the first of two readings on Thursday, Sept. 5.
