Barbara Faye Beakley was born Oct. 8, 1943 to John Clark Focke and Margaret Melissa Bridges Focke. She was the second of three children, sister Jean Focke Davis and brother John Bridges Focke. Barbara grew up in Bandera County on the family ranch that she loved so much. In high school, she met the love of her life, Richard W. Beakley Sr., and in June 1960, they married.
