John Sidney Orr died on Jan. 31, 2021. John was born on June 19, 1933, in Enid, Oklahoma, to William H. and Naomi Williams Orr. He moved to Houston, Texas, with his family, where he attended grade school and Lamar High School. After high school, John spent two years on active duty in the U.S. Navy. John graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Science degree in geology in 1959. He spent the next 10 years working in Mexico and the Middle East.
