11th street brings beach vibes
The Bandera Beach Party at 11th Street Bar on Friday, Aug. 27, was so much fun there are plans for a return at the same time next year, according to 11th Street owner James McGroarty and Gary Glenn of the Gary Glenn & 20 X Band.
“Imagine an event with Beach Boys songs and country music. It will be great,” McGroarty said.
Glenn and McGroarty were planning for a gig when the singer got an idea.
“It just came to me: we could have an end-of-summer beach party. We thought about things like putting down sand, but didn’t have time. We will do things like that in future,” Glenn said.
A good number of people who went to the Friday event were getting in the spirit by wearing Hawaiian leis or Hawaiian dresses.
McGroarty told the Bulletin that the 11th Street Bar is always looking for new themes. For every new 10 themes, only two work and catch on, but the Bandera Beach Party has a really good chance of catching on.
With Labor Day celebrations approaching this weekend, the cowboy bar is keeping its party spirit alive thanks to an extensive music lineup planned for the weekend.
