Medina boys team falls twice
The Medina Bobcats boys basketball team lost two key district games this past week which dropped the Bobcats into fourth place in district play.
On Tuesday (Jan. 18) at D’Hanis, Medina could not get their offense in gear, and they dropped a 47-25 district contest to the Cowboys.
D’Hanis built a 14-point halftime lead and never looked back as they gave the Bobcats their third district loss. Sophomore, T. J. DeLeon was the only bright spot for the visitors. He scored ten points and pulled down 13 rebounds in the defeat.
Friday night (Jan. 21) in Medina the Bobcats dropped a hard-fought district contest to defending district champion, Rocksprings, 65-57.
DeLeon poured in 27 points to lead the Bobcats scoring. Juniors Dawson Simons and Wyatt Boatman scored in double figures for Medina with 15 points and 10 points respec tively. Simons grabbed 12 rebounds and Boatman dished out 8 assists in the loss.
Medina is now 11-6 overall, and 2-3 in the district with road games at district leading Knippa Tuesday, and at Leakey on Wednesday. Saturday Nueces Canyon will visit Medina for a district game.
Coach Bill Carter missed last week games because of testing positive for Covid. He hopes to return this week to lead the Bobcats in these three district games.
